At Proxima Fusion, you will join a diverse and interdisciplinary team working at the frontier of fusion technology. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing our ML and data management capabilities to support fusion technology development. Your work will focus on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, MLOps tooling, and cloud-based training pipelines for large-scale simulations. This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside machine learning experts, software engineers, fusion scientists, and fusion engineers, making a tangible impact on the future of clean energy.
If you have:
- A Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering
- Strong knowledge of Python software development and the PyData ecosystem
- Experience with Pipeline Scheduling systems such as Airflow or Dagster
- Experience with ETL systems such as PySpark and Kubernetes.
- Experience with computation in cloud or HPC environments, scalable training pipelines involving numeric simulations, and distributed computing.
It would be nice if you have:
- Experience with MLOps tooling
- Familiarity with ML Frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Jax.
- Experience with Docker
You will help us by:
- Understanding the goals and challenges of our research and design teams.
- Leading the development of the infrastructure and tools that support our simulation and data-driven approach.
- Contributing and reviewing code across our full simulation and analysis stack.
- Leading the integration and adoption of analysis and visualization tools - enhancing our team’s abilities to collaborate.
- Defining and implementing cross-org software engineering best practices, development and deployment tools.
- Mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
