Your role

As Operations & Finance Lead at Tanso, you will be responsible for driving the financial health and operational efficiency of the company. You will work closely with the CEO to align business objectives with financial planning and operational execution, ensuring we have the infrastructure and processes to scale rapidly. You’ll be instrumental in establishing a rigorous, metrics-based view on company performance, helping us ensure accountability for the metrics that matter for success.

This role is a unique opportunity to join Tanso’s leadership team in an exciting growth phase, taking responsibility for driving efficient growth from 100 to 1000+ customers and building up the Operations & Finance team. The role has a clear outlook towards developing into a “Head of” role and will include mentorship by strong operators who did it before and a flexible L&D budget.

Key responsibilities:

1. Own the business case for efficient growth:
   • Own budgeting, forecasting, P&L and cash management and help identify improvement potential.
   • Provide business insights to support strategy decisions and identify levers for improvement.
   • Support fundraising efforts with FP&A insights.
2. Ensure operational excellence:
   • Design and implement scalable processes to drive operational efficiency across departments.
   • Monitor and optimize the company’s performance metrics, ensuring alignment with growth goals.
   • Ensure that operational procedures comply with legal, financial, and industry regulations in collaboration with external councils.
   • Ensure full compliance with SaaS-specific regulations such as GDPR and ISO 27001.
3. Establish state of the art financial reporting & analytics:
   • Develop financial reports and dashboards that provide visibility into key SaaS metrics.
   • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
   • Regularly present financial results to the leadership team and the advisory board.
   • Manage relationships with external partners (e.g. audit and tax advisories, banks).
4. Redefine how we run Operations & Finance
   • Build and develop a lean, high-performing finance and operations team from scratch.
   • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
   • Support cross-functional teams in aligning operational practices with business growth.

Job requirements

• Outstanding degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in high performance analytical roles, e.g. consulting, private equity, investment banking, operations & finance in growth stage startup.
• Entrepreneurial drive to establish efficient processes fast.
• Proven experience in financial planning; strong understanding of SaaS metrics, subscription models, and recurring revenue businesses.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Previous experience in high-growth SaaS environments is a strong plus.
• Living or willing to relocate to Munich.
• Pre-existing working permit for the EU.
• English at level C1 or higher, German at level C2.
