With Sonia, doctors are successful doctors. We build and deploy AI-enhanced solutions that make doctors’ lives easier, patients’ care better, and healthcare systems more efficient. If you’re curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how applied machine learning works in real products, join us.

We’re looking for a Working Student / Intern (all) to support our Machine Learning team in the area of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) for dental and medical applications. This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on data annotation, data quality, and understanding how ASR systems are evaluated and improved in production environments.

This role can be performed in a hybrid setup from our offices in Luxembourg or Berlin.

Hours: Flexible (10-20 hours per week)

Duration: 6 months (with possible extension)

  • Data Collection: Record, annotate, and review speech and transcript data for medical and dental use cases.
  • Annotation Quality: Correct transcripts, mark domain-specific terminology, and ensure high annotation accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Apply structured quality checks to annotated datasets.
  • Model Evaluation: Support the evaluation of ASR models and their outputs.
  • ML Exposure: Learn how ASR and ML systems are validated, measured, and improved in real projects.
  • Automation: Help automate repetitive annotation and validation tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with a production-oriented Machine Learning team.
  • Product Impact: Contribute directly to improving a live healthcare product.
Must Haves
  • Student Status: Enrolled Master’s student in Computer Science, Engineering, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Language Skills: Full German proficiency, spoken and written.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and care when working with data.
  • Data Handling: Comfortable working with structured datasets.
  • Programming: Experience with Python.
  • ML Foundations: Experience with machine learning or deep learning concepts.
Nice to Have
  • Medical Domain: Familiarity with medical or dental terminology.
  • Annotation Experience: Experience with data annotation or annotation tools.
  • ASR Knowledge: Exposure to speech recognition or audio data processing.
  • Automation Mindset: Interest in scripting or automating repetitive tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with production-grade ASR and machine learning systems.
  • A collaborative team that values curiosity, learning, and pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Flexible working arrangements (remote or hybrid).
  • Fair compensation for a working student / paid internship role.
  • Close collaboration with experienced Machine Learning engineers.
  • The chance to work on products that directly shape the future of healthcare.

If you’re curious about applied machine learning, enjoy working with data, and want to gain real-world experience in medical AI, we’d love to hear from you!

I’m Margarita and will be guiding you through the application process.
