Mission Brief

The intern will work within the Production Engineering Team (AI & Manufacturing Readiness) will support the Production Engineering team in implementing AI-driven manufacturability and manufacturing readiness assessments. The role focuses on reducing Design Release to Manufacturing Release lead time through automated checks, digital workflows, and SAP routing optimization. Work closely with internal and external key stakeholders, regarding technical support, striving for best-in-class products and business practices. Building a rocket, we have the following key production processes: additive manufacturing, CNC turning and milling, assembly processes, carbon fibre composites, electronics manufacturing and welding. Some of the processes are fully automated. Our machine park includes only the most advanced and latest machinery and equipment.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

  • Check models, assemblies and manufacturing methods and challenge possible difficulties before production release (TRL, MRL)

  • Support engineers to design components in accordance to internal manufacturing constraints and standards

  • Define, implement, train and validate AI-based manufacturability checks using Colab AI Software to build the feasibility Business Case Study

  • Develop rule sets for standards compliance, manufacturability assessments and automated engineering reviews. Perform cross-checks and validation of AI-generated outputs to ensure reliability and quality

  • Support implementation of AI workflows in Siemens Teamcenter X and Siemens NX

  • Analyze daily engineering data and continuously improve AI model performance

  • Support the reduction of release lead time to a target of 5 days

  • Create, maintain and optimize SAP routings and manufacturing process data

Qualification Checklist

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or similar

  • Interest in AI, machine learning and digital engineering applications

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering drawings

  • Practical experience with CAD Software (e.g. SolidWorks, Siemens NX or similar)

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skillsStrong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams

  • Good English communication skills

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in CAD standards (e.g. DIN, EN, ISO)

  • Experience in Phython, data analytics or artificial intelligence (AI)
